For individuals struggling with obesity
Weight loss (bariatric) surgery can lead to significant, long-term weight loss, better health and a new outlook on life.
Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth (BID Plymouth) and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Milton (BID Milton) bring high-quality, nationally-accredited weight loss surgery to the greater Plymouth community.
Our widely respected weight loss surgeons are members of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Department of Surgery and are on the Harvard Medical School faculty. They all have completed advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery.
To qualify for weight loss surgery, you must have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or greater with an obesity related health condition, such as diabetes, sleep apnea or high blood pressure, or a BMI of 40 or greater with no obesity related condition. Use this online calculator to determine your BMI

Most pre-surgery evaluations and tests as well as aftercare appointments are scheduled at BID Plymouth. Some pre-surgery evaluations and the actual operations are performed at BID Milton, which is nationally-accredited as an MBSAQIP Comprehensive Center, the highest level of accreditation possible for weight loss surgery programs.
